We provide supervision before classes begin, ensure participation in school lunches if needed, and a meaningful organization of free time in the afternoon hours, including the completion of homework.
Daycare children are still at the beginning of their language development. For us, language education that is integrated into everyday life means that we pay attention to child-friendly language teaching in everyday interaction. Playfully introducing our children to the English language is part of our everyday life.
Our facility works according to the situation-oriented approach. Accordingly, we show the child a high degree of appreciation. The child's own activity is at the center of this, as he or she learns to form his or her own opinion and also to represent this to others and to show consideration for others. The work of our after-school care center is based on the current requirements and possibilities of our society, which consists of different cultures and perspectives of the individual people. Individual experiences and current situations are always taken into account in everyday life and in our pedagogical planning. Children with different developmental possibilities or support needs are integrated into our program. The educators are to be seen as teachers and learners.
Communication and media skills allow our children to become real explorers and discoverers, with creativity and imagination, in a society that they themselves help to shape. We provide our children with learning situations that are varied and arouse curiosity, taking into account the individuality of each child and focusing on existing abilities.
Homework, given by the school, allows children to review and reinforce what they have learned. Homework enables children to develop a positive attitude towards work and thus leads to organizational skills (dividing the day into free time and chores). In the after-school program, the children have the opportunity to do their homework in the afternoon (14.30-15.30). Our goal is for each child to complete their tasks increasingly independently, as this is the only way they can learn to structure their day themselves. The homework is done in the group and under the supervision of the caregivers.
We pay special attention to profound health education. Daily exercise in the fresh air is an integral part of the weekly routine. But there are also sports days/weeks and days during the vacations when we consciously focus on healthy eating. The village environment, the proximity to the sports field and the use of the gymnasium have a significant influence on the implementation of this concept.
The vacations are the highlight of the school year for the children and are considered periods of rest & relaxation. During the vacation period, we provide ample time for play and the use of various offers is also possible. Participation in the after-school program is voluntary. During the vacations, the after-school care center is open from 7:00 - 16:00.
Before the vacations, parents receive the vacation program, after which they decide which activities their children would like to participate in. Numerous excursions take place during the vacations. The vacation program consists of nature, cultural and leisure activities in the town of Wüstenbrand & the surrounding area.
We receive financial support for the organization of the vacation program from the Friends of Diesterwegschule-Grundschule.
